The Sisters of Charity of Nazareth are an international congregation of women religious who work for justice in solidarity with oppressed peoples, especially the economically poor and women, and care for Earth. Nazareth, home to the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth since 1822, is a sacred piece of land consisting of approximately 300 acres. Half of the campus consists of a landscaped area surrounding historic buildings. The rest of campus is forested natural areas with aquatic habitat and four former agricultural fields that are being converted to a native prairie.
The AmeriCorps member will assist the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth in living out the commitment to care for Earth by helping to restore native ecosystems on the grounds of Nazareth, assisting the Office of Ecological Sustainability in researching and promoting regenerative ways of living and working, providing education and outreach to the congregation and the communities in which they serve, managing programs to support their mission and engaging in community with the Sisters of Charity of Nazareth.
