Members serve in elementary and middle schools as teachers' assistants, small group instructors, and peer mediators, and in other community organizations.

Out of School Time Programs
The Out of School Time Programs operate at 12 different sites across the City of Philadelphia. Located in neighborhoods with high poverty and crime rates, these programs provide a safe haven for children to access quality afterschool programming. The goal of the OST program is to function as a catalyst in the lives of youth to combat neighborhood challenges and to promote their academic and social success in the areas of reading, writing, math, school attendance, and postsecondary and career exploration.
St. Edmond’s Home for Children
An AmeriCorp member serving at St. Edmond’s Home for Children will be responsible for helping to plan and implement the day program. St. Edmond’s Home for Children is a residential facility where a member will create and implement recreational activities to children and young adults with developmental disabilities. This member will serve alongside staff to provide care and programming for children and young adults with a variety of needs.
Broad Street Ministry
This full-time, one-year position is an opportunity for immersion in a nonprofit organization situated in the center of Philadelphia dedicated to radical hospitality for our guests, and committed to fostering intense growth opportunities for our team. The BSM community extends this hospitality to all Philadelphians experiencing homelessness and hunger. By nurturing creative expression on The Avenue of the Arts, an important art district in Center City, and by expressing our deep concern for vulnerable individuals, BSM is committed to civic engagement that leads to a more vibrant, just and hopeful society.
DePaul Catholic School (Seton Blended Learning)
The main duty of AmeriCorp members serving at DePaul Catholic School is to support the Blended Learning Community. Members will have the opportunity to have a year-long, intensive, hands-on experience in a school while learning about the ins and outs of educational innovation and blended learning.
St. Katharine Drexel School
An AmeriCorp member will serve in the on-grounds educational program, St. Katharine Drexel School. This member serves in direct contact with students by tutoring students individually or in small groups, working with the Life Skills Academy classroom (older students working towards high school graduation), and working directly with teachers and staff to implement classroom rules and teaching.
St. Malachy School
This position allows for a member to gain real, classroom experience in an urban school by assisting teachers with daily needs and building important relationships that will have a life-long impact on the students you serve. Responsibilities range on a large scale from classroom organization to providing interventions for students one-on-one and in small groups. A member will learn about blended learning and data-driven instruction first-hand by working through computer errors, teaching/monitoring appropriate behaviors, and tracking data. Through classroom support during learning time and during other points in the day, you’ll develop meaningful relationships with individual students
St. Thomas Aquinas & Our Lady of Hope
The Adult Education and Community Engagement Member will assist with Adult Education and parish community resource projects, such as ESL, after school programming, and volunteer recruitment. In coordination with the director, the member will assist the implementation of all daily community activities. Members will provide administrative and data entry support as well as assist, plan, and develop adult educational, recreational, social, and cultural group activities.
US Dream Academy
US Dream Academy is a national after school program with the principle that beyond school, every young person we serve must spend 11 to 15 hours each week in a stimulating learning environment. The overall goal is to nurture the whole child while altering attitudes, enhancing self-esteem, supporting emotional and intellectual growth, and sparking dreams. The AmeriCorp Member will empower children who are at risk of incarceration to maximize their potential by providing them with academic, social, and values enrichment through supportive mentoring and the use of technology.
